We interview OutserveWeb Accounts Assistant, Leah Tonks, to find out what makes her tick…
Why did you choose to do the AAT Accountancy course?
I chose to do the AAT Accountancy course because I have been interested in numbers and maths since Year 4 at school and wanted a career in accountancy. I decided to do an apprenticeship rather than go to university because I am more of a hands-on person and would rather learn within the work environment.
What have you learnt so far on your course?
I enjoy attending college once a week, and so far I have completed one unit, which is Bookkeeping Transactions. In this unit we have covered many topics, for example, invoicing, VAT and double entry. I already had some basic knowledge of bookkeeping, but have now learnt a lot more.
What have you achieved so far at OutserveWeb?
At OutserveWeb, I have learnt how to be part of a team. I have also learnt about a lot of cloud computing and technology from Phil. I have already completed my Xero Advisor certification and have learnt how to use WorkflowMax, Unleashed and Receipt Bank training, and enjoy using these software packages on a daily basis.
One thing I feel I have personally achieved, is travelling on the motorway every day within rush hour traffic to get to and from the office. I only passed my test 9 months ago – so it’s quite a big thing for me!
What is the best thing about working at OutserveWeb?
The best thing about working at OutserveWeb is having such a great team to work alongside. It makes work really enjoyable. I also like using all the different softwares, such as Xero, Unleashed, Spotify, WorkflowMax, Hubspot, Zendesk, Receipt Bank, Tripcatcher and exploring these different softwares.
Do you have any hobbies?
Yes, I enjoy watching Premier League football at the weekend and I also have a home season ticket at West Bromwich Albion. I enjoy going as the atmosphere is amazing and I like to watch my team play.
When I’m not at the Albion, I enjoy watching football at home. I also like to watch reality TV programmes and soaps.
What would you do if you won the Lottery?
If I won the Lottery, the first thing I would do is book a holiday abroad, as I love going on holidays in the sun and enjoying myself. I would also buy myself a new car as I’m still on my first car still, having not been driving very long.
I would continue to work every day because I would get bored if I didn’t. I would save my winnings so that I could retire early with a comfortable amount of money and perhaps also move abroad.
What reality TV show would you be in and why?
Hm, hard to choose. 1 – I’m A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here!, because one of my dreams is to jump out of the plane with a parachute. Living in the jungle would be an amazing experience – yes, even the eating trials and creepy crawlies… It would be a lifetime opportunity! 2 – Love island, because I’d get a 6-week holiday in a villa. It would be something different and I would meet new people and make new friends. 3 – The Only Way Is Essex, because I love watching it and I love make-up, hair and fashion. It would be amazing to be part of the show!
If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you live?
If I could live anywhere in the world it would be somewhere really hot, such as the Bahamas, Cuba, Mexico or the Maldives. Or, somewhere like Las Vegas, New York or Florida. AMAZING!
