Unleashed creates automated ordering system for ProtectaPet

Sometimes, what seems like a complex problem, can have a surprisingly simple solution. OutserveWeb’s client, ProtectaPet, is the perfect example of this. ProtectaPet, based in Stoke-on-Trent, supplies and installs award-winning, high specification pet enclosures. Directors of the business, Simon and Eve Davies, have spent six years optimising the patented products, which aim to keep pets safe while still allowing them to experience the outdoors. The one problem they had, however, was no computerised system to help them manage their stock. Simon explains,

“We assemble the kits to order. So when someone orders an 80m cat fence for example, we put together all the posts, meshing and other necessary parts. But as the business was growing so rapidly, not knowing exactly what we had in stock, started to cause problems.”

As well as creating logistical problems, Simon and Eve found it reduced their ability to plan. As a Xero client with OutserveWeb, ProtectaPet already understood the benefits of having their accounting system on the cloud, so, we introduced them to cloud-based, stock management system, Unleashed and installed it for them. Among other things, Unleashed gives access to up-to-date stock levels at any time, performs easy and efficient stock takes and gives the ability to track batches or serial numbers. Eve says,

“The order goes into Unleashed, which creates a pick list for our team in the warehouse. The team then know exactly what they need to pick and pack, and the stock is adjusted automatically. It’s saving us so much time – and stress!”

Furthermore, OutserveWeb has integrated Unleashed with ProtectaPet’s Xero accounting system and ecommerce site, creating a seamless, automated system. Eve adds,

“We now have complete control over the whole order process, and this has freed us up to focus on growing the business further.”

As animal lovers themselves, the team at ProtectaPet are passionate about what they do. In a move to serve their customers even better, Simon and Eve are looking at putting in place, with OutserveWeb’s help, a cloud-based Customer Relationship Management system.
